Guardian Angel Community Services’
Partner Abuse Intervention Program, PAIP, is designed to help
individuals in their efforts to develop healthy, mutually supportive
relationships and eliminate domestic violence from their lives.
Domestic violence takes
many forms. It includes:
Emotional/Psychological Abuse which is causing
a partner to experience psychological or emotional fear or suffering.
It includes behaviors that result in fear of violence, or isolation,
intimidation, and feelings of shame, humiliation, powerlessness, or loss
of dignity.
Financial Abuse
is the improper use of property, finances and other
assets without the informed consent of a domestic partner, including
withholding important information about family assets or the ability to
use those assets when needed.
Physical Abuse
includes acts of violence that result in the infliction of physical
pain, discomfort, injury or physical coercion such as hitting, shoving,
pushing, burning and physical restraint.
Sexual Abuse
includes any type of forced or coerced sexual activity committed against
the will of a partner.
Through education and support individuals who have committed acts of
domestic violence can learn alternative methods of communicating with
their partners and begin to build relationships that allow for open
respectful communication and trust.
Anyone who has committed an act of
domestic violence is welcome to join the group. The first step is to
arrange for an assessment with a trained professional who will help you
to determine your needs and assist you with getting started in the
class.
