Medical Advocacy
Trained Advocates
are available 24 hours daily to provide crisis intervention services
in a medical setting. Advocates provide survivors with the
information, comfort, and emotional support they need to make
informed choices and regain a sense of control of their lives.
Individual
Counseling:
Offers to survivors of domestic
violence victims and their children, time to explore the cycle of violence in
their lives and to define goals that empower them to realize their self worth.
Group
counseling:
Offers a safe, supportive
environment for survivors of domestic violence to share experiences, to be
educated on the Illinois Domestic Violence Act, and to learn new skills for
living.
Community
Presentations:
Offers adult groups within the
community information on the Groundwork Program and education on domestic
violence.
In-service
Seminars:
Provides the professional community
with a resource to become informed about domestic violence issues.
Prevention
Education:
Contributes to domestic violence
prevention by offering age-appropriate domestic violence presentations in
schools and to youth groups.
